5 August 2020, Kathmandu:
The ANTUF central officials meeting following the lifting of lockdown has decided to speed up the organisational activities.
The meeting which was held on Monday at the ANTUF central office, Koteshwor and presided by ANTUF president Comrade Jagat Simkhada has decided to implement and monitor the agreement signed between the trade unions and employers’ association FNCCI. Also, it has decided to speed up the necessary organisational work in order to complete the remaining workload of unification.
Informing about the decisions made by the meeting, ANTUF central secretary Comrade Som Tamang said, “Because the recent 7 point agreement between JTUCC and FNCCI is the basis to guarantee workers’ employment and livelihood, it has been decided to mobilise all the ANTUF organisations in order to effectively implement and monitor the Agreement.”
He also said that the unification between ANTUF and GEFONT, both close to the ruling party, will be concluded as soon as possible, the meeting has decided.
In the pretext of intensive debate on bringing Peoples’ Multiparty Democracy and 21st Century’s Peopleism on surface, he added, “After the registration of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) at election commission, existence of former UML and Maoist Centre has ceased. Because the party’s guiding principle is Marxism-Leninism and programme is Socialism oriented People’s Democracy, to go against this is anti-unification, status quo thinking, and result of reactionary thinking; the meeting has concluded.” Further he said,”In the world, there is no example of unification of two parties or organisations which occur after unification of lower level units, and if someone says that ANTUF-GEFONT unification is possible only after unification of lower level units, that is anti-unification propaganda without intent to unify.”
The meeting also wished a speedy recovery to faction In-Charge Comrade Jayapuri Gharti who has been hospitalised after suffering from health problem; and paid respects on the untimely demise of ANTUF central treasurer Comrade Ghanashyam Thakuri’s father and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
