The general meeting of the All Nepal Health Workers Union has elected Nisha Kharel as its President in a full board meeting held on 21 Mangsir in Parisdanda, Kathmandu. Her team comprises of 51 central committee members from health workers union across the nation.
The meeting has also assigned specific roles and responsibilities to its new leadership. Addressing the full committee meeting of All Nepal Health Workers’ Union, the Acting President, Jagat Simkhada says fighting for the rights of all the health workers have become very much challenging at the pretext of many workers being forced to take retirement from their working position.
He further adds the employers are plotting against the unity of workers with the principles of Divide and Rule. And this has put many workers in vulnerable situations. Mr. Simkhada also expressed his deep dissatisfaction towards anti-labour provision of Labour Act, Section 145 and 109 introduced by Government.
Similarly, the Vice President, Mr. SB Thapa expressed the need of collective efforts to ensure the rights and occupational benefits of the all the workers. Mr. Thapa also pointed on the need of updating membership status of province, district and local level health workers across the nation.
Likewise, Pitambar Giri, the President of Province No. 3 has focused on the strong action from government to implement existing labour provision including the provision of social security scheme. The meeting was conducted by Tank Ram Paudel under the chairmanship of ANHWU’s President Nisha Kharel.
